It’s time to Repair, Restore and Revive your hair!

“Good Hair” is defined by how healthy your hair is. Not by its length or texture.

Hair Types

  • 100% straight with no waves or curls. Tends to be more shiny from excess oil production

  • Loose waves. S shaped waves, most times thicker than type 1 hair.

  • Ranges from a soft to tight curls. Can have different curl patterns through your hair. Thicker than type 2 hair.

  • Coily Hair. Tight springy coils. Naturally dry with a spongy texture.

Hair Type Sub Categories

  • 2A - Your waves are fine and thin with a loose tousled texture. Hair lacks volume and definition.

3A - Big loose spiral curls. More defined S-shaped curl

4A - Dense springy coils. Coils are very tight

You can have 1 hair type or a combination of several and that’s perfectly fine. My hair types are 3c and 4a. My curls are looser in at my nape and tighter at my crown to my temples.

Knowing your hair type will allow to find products and routines that are best for your hair.

Hair Porosity

  • Absorbs liquids but hard to retain moisture. Sets quickly, prone to breakage and easily tangles.

  • Repels liquids and is hard to keep moisturized. Products will sit on top of hair shaft. Not easily saturated and water beads up and falls off hair.

  • Absorbs and retains liquids and products. Easily moisturized and more manageable than high or low porosity hair.

The Float Test

The purpose of the float test is determine the porosity of your hair.

First you’ll take a couple of strands from the crown of your head.

Then place them in a cup with room temperature water. If it floats, you have low porosity hair. If it sinks, the porosity of your hair is high.

Lastly if the hair strands stay in the middle of the cup or bowl you have medium or normal porosity hair.

The image below shows each result.
